Industrial  Headstone Mason and fixer, bearer and call out person

Job entails

  • Placing stencils onto memorial stones and ‘picking’ the stencils
  • Moving memorial into the blaster and blasting the inscription onto the stone
  • Gilding or painting the letters
  • Fixing stones using NAMM approved fixings
  • Removing headstones prior to second inscriptions
  • When memorials come back into the yard, making sure they are kept safely
  • Learning to polish headstones
  • Helping to create and execute ornamentation on headstones
  • Going out to view memorials and bring back all relevant information needed to the office in order for quotes to be given to clients
  • Cleaning and renovating stones
  • Driving to and from churchyards and cemeteries
  • In time, with gained knowledge, being able to advise clients on headstone choices

In addition, but not essential, if the person wishes to develop and learn, we can always do with the following help

  • As we are also funeral directors, we are looking for this person to be on the on call rota, which entails being on call outside normal office hours, in one week batches, to go out to collect deceased from homes and hospice (this includes night and weekend work) Each week on call you will be paid an ‘call’ fee and then every call out also gets paid for
  • Also, on the funeral side there will be occasions when you will be asked to be a bearer on a funeral.  Uniform will be provided

We are looking to develop this person to be a valued member of the team who can turn their hand to any aspect of the business.

In return - 

Salary £22K

Training will be given and we would expect them to take a forklift drivers course and the NAMM fixers course in order to be able to operate independently from our existing stone mason.
